Testimonial for Ms. Lakisha Jones
I am writing this letter in strong support of Ms. Lakisha Jones based on my experience working with her during the 2022–2023 school year at Paetow High School.
During that time, I was navigating a very difficult transition with my son. We had just relocated to Katy ISD after the loss of my father, and my child was also grieving the disruption of previous school relationships. Shortly after enrolling, I was contacted by school staff regarding concerns that my son may be exhibiting signs of ADHD. Unfortunately, my interactions with multiple staff members were frustrating, unclear, and at times emotionally triggering. I found the communication to be vague and lacking the level of knowledge and support my family needed.
Everything changed when Ms. Jones contacted me.
From our very first interaction, Ms. Jones demonstrated exceptional professionalism, knowledge, integrity, and efficiency. More importantly, she listened. She took the time to understand both my son’s academic history and our family’s circumstances. Without prior rapport, she carefully reviewed past report cards, notes, and available data, and immediately began addressing my concerns with clarity and confidence.
Ms. Jones was the only individual who clearly explained the school’s processes and presented appropriate options for my son. She provided informed guidance regarding alternatives, including a 504 plan, which ultimately proved to be the more appropriate path based on the data. Her recommendations were later confirmed when I proceeded with testing, reinforcing that her initial assessment was both accurate and thoughtful.
What stood out most was her commitment to ensuring I was fully informed. While others seemed uncertain or dismissive, Ms. Jones empowered me with knowledge and advocated for what was truly in my child’s best interest.
Additionally, I had requested to be contacted via email due to my work schedule, as I maintain two full-time jobs. While this reasonable request was largely disregarded by other staff, Ms. Jones respected my needs and communicated in a way that allowed me to stay engaged and informed.
I can say with confidence that my experience with the school would have been significantly more negative had it not been for Ms. Jones. In fact, I was strongly considering transferring my son back to his previous school. Because of her support, professionalism, and genuine care, we remained—and I am truly grateful.
I highly recommend Ms. Jones to any family or organization seeking a knowledgeable, compassionate, and highly effective advocate for students and families.
Sincerely,
A. Russell

Ms. Jones is a compassionate, dedicated, understanding, and generous professional who has made an impact both as a teacher and now as an IEP consultant. Prior to becoming a consultant, she taught my oldest son in 5th grade in 2015. Because of her strategic and critical work ethic, he successfully graduated elementary school with confidence. The following year, she also taught my niece in 3rd grade and made the same lasting impact. Ms. Jones truly believes in the saying “reach one, teach one.” She has defined the meaning of breaking barriers when getting the job done, always ensuring her students had what they needed. She is someone I would consider truly altruistic.
While she is no longer in the classroom, Ms. Jones has continued her calling through advocacy. I have personally partnered with her as she guided me through the process of obtaining an IEP and 504 plan for my 4-year-old. She has been prompt, direct, and naturally eager to help—providing valuable insight into available resources, preparing my son for long-term educational success, and clarifying what schools are legally required to provide for children with disabilities.
Because of Ms. Jones’ dedication and commitment, my son and niece both achieved academic success and developed lasting self-confidence. Her advocacy has also empowered me as a parent to secure the right support for my child. Ms. Jones’ influence extends far beyond teaching—she continues to shape lives and futures through her perseverance and devotion to others.
