Listen to Einstein! Einstein said, “The only source of knowledge is experience.”

However, we can learn from experience in two different ways.

1. You can learn through your own experiences.
2. You can learn by watching other people’s experiences.

You can either do something, get it wrong and learn from the mistake or watch someone else’s mistake and learn to do it correctly at your first attempt!

Although both methods are equally valid ways to learn, the second way is of course not possible for interviews, so it has to be the first way!

Use the experience of going for an interview and not preforming very well as the motivator to get it right next time.

This is why, when we are in job search mode, it is critically important to go through a formal self-debrief process after each interview: a structured review of the experience gives us the knowledge we need to improve our performance next time.
